Auricular
Therapy
Sept 1, 2001
Firstly, I would like to
thank my clients for letting me use them to practice on during my
practicum which ended successfully on March 29, 2001.
In June 2001 I received my Ear Reflexology Certificate which
now makes it official. I
am an Auricular
Therapist.
Having said this, I now have
numerous testimonials attesting to the rapid effects of ear
reflexology. I myself
have noticed the benefits from applying Auricular
therapy on myself
and my cat Taz – he now let’s me rub his ears.
UPDATE – May 2003
Since I started practicing
ear reflexology I have had much success with clients stopping
addictions including smoking, losing weight, getting in shape and
taking better care of themselves. The
results have been phenomenal including the work I have done on
myself. My clients have
also learned to control pain, stop headaches, PMS, for relaxation
and to change moods.

THERAPY – EAR
REFLEXOLOGY
A Brief History
Ear reflexology has been
around for thousands of years, like many other tried and true
complimentary therapies. No
one knows the origin for sure but all civilizations have used it
since the beginning of mankind and it is likely it will be used
until the end of time.
Written records appear
around 200 B.C. which described reflex points on the ears.
Over its history, more reflex points have been added as they
were discovered and ultimately in the 19th century it was
westernized. Many
cultures and civlizations have used it effectively and it has grown
it has undergone some major changes.
The Egyptians used it, as did the Romans, Chinese, Japanese
etc. Finally we come
west and find it in a book written by Dr. Joe Shelby-Riley in 1924.
The theory and practice was introduced by Dr. Paul Nogier,
thought of as a founding father, but in reality it was bound to
happen sooner or later. In
1972, Nogier published his findings on his medical research having
been led to ‘re’discover Auricular
Therapy.
He found Auricular
therapy to be a combination of therapies
and the reflexes to be found “through the pathways of acupuncture,
psychotherapy, homeopathy and orthodox medicine.”
His findings were published in 1972.
The ‘WHO’, World Health
Organization in 1982, standardized thousands of ear reflex points
because it is so safe and effective bringing rapid results.
All disorders ending in ‘itis’ can be treated simply
using the ear reflex points. Anyone can use ear reflexology to
alleviate symptoms from pain and suffering.
MEDICAL COVERAGE
October 30, 2001
Our Government has dropped
eye exams, massage and some drugs which were covered by B.C. Medical
Services Plan (MSP). This
has had a wide ranging impact on all classes of society with far
reaching consequences including lifestyle changes for the therapists
and their clients. I
trust by now everyone has adjusted and are keeping massage in their
lives.
REGISTERED MASSAGE
THERAPISTS are just that, RMT’s.
If you see someone with these initials behind their names,
they have been through an intensive 4 –5 years of courses,
training and working with a Physician.
It means they have passed
their written and practical examinations and should be members of
the B.C. Association of Registered Massage Therapists.
Reflexology is not
presently covered by MSP or any type of B.C. Health Care,
however, if you have Extended Health Care you may have coverage for
reflexology, aromatherapy and a host of other complimentary health
therapies. Call your
insurance company and find out if you are – I will issue you a
receipt and you can claim that back.
The Reflexology Association of Canada has a charter with the
Government and we are making progress to get coverage.
Eventually, ear, hand & foot reflexology and many other
complimentary therapies will be covered including massage.
That is my vision anyway, it may take years but we’ll keep
up the good fight.
Get your doctor’s
advice, or call B.C. Health Care to
find out exactly what is now covered and what you will have to pay
out-of-pocket. You
could also consider hypnotherapy – known to relieve stress and
other psychological disorders.
GET RELIEF NOW
If you want relief now and
can’t wait, bring yourself over to my loving hands and I will do
the best I can in a half hour for $25.
This sometimes is enough for some people.
Housecalls $30 - $60. You
will get results which you can feel working as you progress through
the session. No miracle
cures here, just your own body trying to heal itself.
