The Conscious,Subconscious & Unconscious

CONSCIOUSNESS, SUBCONSCIOUS AND UNCONSCIOUS
AND THE EFFECT OF ADVERTISING

Last night I watched a documentary about advertising. The point of
advertising is to make people believe that they need a product, that is, to
produce a consumer.

The Dalai Lama says to be good everyday, try your best to love. He also
says that material things are nothing. They can't bring happiness but that
is just what advertising wants you to believe. There are people out there
paid just to hypnotize you into believing that you need their product to be
happy. Advertising is sewing discontent within the human psyche to creating
a desire for the product or service.

Here we are in North America, all cozy in our little beds. We are the
consumers and because we consume everything that is thrown at us without
thinking or talking about it, we have created this world. This world is of
the haves and have-nots. Yes, there will always be poor people as long as
there are rich ones because both are connected. The connection is that as
long as people are greedy and don't share, there will be this desperate
poverty and this elite filthy rich.

There are a handful of people in the world that create this illusion and
they are the ones who push their products through advertising. There was a
time when advertising was simply selling a product or service but now it has
become a brainwashing means to create a lifestyle of what is acceptable and
what is not. It does sew discontent in people because it makes them feel
inadequate without having the product. It makes women feel less than what
they should because all we see are beautiful, thin and made up dolls. Most
women don't measure up to these standards so we have created anorexia
nervosa. A disease within the psyche that has only surfaced since the
Victorian Age.

If a man doesn't have this "Barbie" model on his arm, he feels inadequate.
It cuts both ways and the advertisers have us all in their grip.
Advertising is so senseless and stupid yet very subtly bypasses the
analytical mind and dives straight down into the subconscious because we
don't think about it. We don't pay attention so the messages that the
advertisers want you to remember are directly imbedded into your
subconscious.

CONSCIOUSNESS - according to Webster's Dictionary consciousness is "the
state of being aware" of everything, "perceiving, apprehending, or noticing
with a degree of controlled thought or observation."; "personally felt",
"capable of or marked by thought, will, design, or perception."

When you are conscious, you are aware, using your analytical mind to make
judgements and decisions every waking hour. We are so used to seeing or
hearing certain things like music accompanying an ad, that we don't even
think about it. The ad has succeeded in imbedding itself into your
subconscious.

SUBCONSCIOUS - Webster's defines this state as being "the mental activities
just below the threshold of consciousness." I find this an inadequate
explanation. The subconscious is a recording device, like a giant computer
the size of New York City but it is housed in our fragile bodies. The
subconscious has the ability to remember everything that's ever happened to
you and play it back too if you can access it's memory. We can all do this,
it just takes practice and a little discipline. A very quick way of
accessing memories from our subconscious is through hypnosis.

The subconscious allows us to remember everything and it is a tool we can
use since the subconscious does whatever it is told. The advertisers know
this and they use it. Put a subliminal message in music such as, buy my cd,
and the teenagers will flock to buy it. Teenagers are so easily manipulated
and hypnotized that it's not much of a challenge to get them to buy whatever
the corporations throw at them.

Now, musicians can put "imbedded codes" within the music itself. This of
course, bypasses all mental, thinking faculties and just imbeds itself
within the subconscious. If you asked a teenager why they want a certain
item, they may not know exactly why or be able to express it because they
don't know. It bypasses all reasoning and the ad was delivered safely
within the subconscious.

In hypnosis or any meditation or suggestion, if you say it enough times,
you'll understand. That's how people learn is by repetition in school. The
same goes for advertising, we just hear it so much that it becomes pop
culture. What people don't realize is that everything you think, say do and
feel matters. How you live your life matters a lot because every single
person on the face of the earth is connected and matters! Always be
positive, persevere and think about what you are doing and what you are
hearing.

Advertisers want you to believe you can't live without their products, you
won't be happy unless you own one of these, or you'll be popular and
accepted if you just have this. Material things don't matter, you can't
take it with you. What really matters is how you live your life,
conscientiously by doing good everyday and being AWARE of your actions.
Even something as simple as drinking a cup of coffee could be causing harm
to someone in a third world country who doesn't get paid a decent wage
because you are buying coffee from unscrupulous corporations who are only in
it for profits. BE AWARE and ask questions. Don't let yourself be sucked
up into spending, spending, spending and maintaining an impossible
lifestyle. We should all strive to live within our means. If you can't
afford it, don't buy it.

UNCONSCIOUS - you're almost dead. You don't think, feel or hear. You're
gone for 3 days.
I listen to people talk about the subconscious and being unconscious as if
they were the same thing. These are highly trained psychiatrists, Doctors
and social workers who ought to be more aware of their words and their
impact on the rest of us. I've just defined the difference between
unconscious and subconscious so please stop saying that we do things
"unconsciously". We do things subconsciously, without using our analytical
minds, before buying that hamburger or eating those doughnuts.

When the Doctor tells you something negative and that he or she thinks
you're finished and you believe them because they're God, of course, then
you are finished. Fighting disease is as much a state of mind as it is a
physical state. You live inside a fragile body and what you think has a
physiological effect on your body. Thinking in negative terms produces ill
effects on the body.

To give yourself a fighting chance in this world you have to become very
aware of everything that's thrown at you but you don't let it into your
subconscious. This is easily done through hypnosis. I would simply suggest
to you that from now on you deal in reality and anyone or anything
(advertising) will not penetrate your shield and you will not be sucked up
in believing in a made up world of consumerism.

Call now to free yourself of this malignancy of advertising. It affects us
all one way or another but with hypnosis we can all become a little more
calm in a very turbulent ocean. We are bombarded every day with advertising
everywhere. We see it on billboards, we hear it on the radio, television.
Advertising is everywhere, even on coasters, t-shirts, in fact, it's in
every possible place we can see or hear. Talk about brainwashing. This is
it folks, if you don't become aware you'll continue to live in a consumer
world that makes the rich richer, and the poor poorer.

Questions you should ask yourself every time you buy something.

1. Where is this coming from? Is it a country where fair labour laws
exist or is slave labor used to make the product.

2. Am I contributing to the poverty or am I the problem with my
materialistic ways?

3. Do I really need this or is it something I'll use once then abandon?

4. Is it something I need or want & who created that need?

5. Is buying this product really going to help me or my family or just
waste money?

6. Is this product really the best thing I could do. In other words,
am I buying this for the highest good of all or just because I'm addicted to
sugar, coffee or fat?

There are probably numerous questions you can think of asking yourself
before you engage a lifestyle of living like there's no tomorrow. Resources
are running out and we in North America cannot maintain this outrageous
lifestyle of spend, spend, spend. Think about how advertising is connected
to pollution.

The lifestyle of North Americans is so wasteful and indulgent, it's no
wonder there's an epidemic of fat people, diabetes, cancers of all types,
diseases of epidemic proportions, "cats & dogs, living together"* etc.
(*from the movie Ghostbusters)
Through hypnosis I have become very aware of my surroundings, what comes in
and what gets left out of everything I hear or see in a day. I don't allow
commercials to influence me in any way. In fact, no one can "hypnotize" me
without my permission. If you only knew how wonderful this is, you would
jump at the chance to be free from the stress of brainwashing advertisements
and all negativity.

How truly wonderful life is when you see it for what it is. Reality becomes
a way of living in enlightenment. It is surely more important than
believing in materialism.
