MEDITATION & CREATIVE VISUALIZATION

Meditation and deep breathing go hand in hand with reflexology, yoga, aromatherapy and postive thinking to relax the body quickly and is a good way to get in touch with ourselves after losing sight of what is really important in life, our souls and our very essence in this busy and complicated world. Anyone who practices meditation will find peace within themselves and focus on bettering their lives and those of others. A great way to let go and let your body heal itself. Meditation and reflexology are complementary.

Creative visualization is an active art that enables the imagination to create images of what the possible future will be by attempting to “see” events which may take place. For example, you could creatively imagine going on a date, a trip, party, or taking an important test and see yourself having a great time, passing your test and enjoying and interacting with other people and places. The technique is used by our right brains, the intuitive part of our consciousness. We should all use this technique to imagine a better world but we should all take action now to try and save what´s left.

Belief holds great power over the body to heal itself but alternative therapies do improve health and promote relaxation and you don´t have to believe in reflexology or herbs for them to work for you. Your body already knows how to heal itself naturally. What we have to do is get out of our own way and let the body work while remembering that everything takes time and patience.

Everything we eat produces an effect on our bodies. I think most people know what, how and why to eat properly means good health. It is better to eat foods that are natural without harmful chemicals but on today´s market our foods are all irradiated and we don´t know what is used unless the source grows organic. If you can grow your own food and resuse your kitchen biodegradable garbage for composting, then so much the better. I grow my own tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, lettuce, radishes, garlic and zuchinnis and recycle all biodegradable wastes in a compost heap. Gardening is a very healthy way of getting in shape, in touch with the earth and relaxing. I also have a big crabapple tree as many of my neighbours in Ogden do and make my own jelly and juice annually. It is just about the best drink you can have and the jelly is excellent too.

So listen to what the vegetarians have been telling us for years and cut down on that red meat or don´t use meat at all. Just have it once in awhile and less and less and after awhile eat more beans, nuts and keep looking for whole foods such as those found in health food stores. There are also many vegetable protein substitutes for meat that are now tastier than ever, if you can´t eat meat, then check your local health food store for alternatives that your doctor approves of.

The variety of foods now available have increased so we have a larger choice of fruits, vegetables and worldwide products that allow us to have a varied diet keeping in mind that everything in moderation is good but a little of what you want won´t hurt you either. It is all a question of balance and going down the moderate road, neither left nor right but like Siddhartha found after living the ascetic life for many years. Depriving oneself is not the answer either but neither is sitting in front of a computer or television set for hours at a time. Get up and walk around for 15 minutes, get your circulation going and give yourself a break. Treat yourself nicely and you will also treat others with care. Increase exercise to half an hour a day then more if you want, just take it slowly.
